This trip will introduce the very south part of the Alps , close to the Italian border . The Mediterranean sea is approximately 60 kms away, but we are here in real alpine valleys , summits and passes.
The road from Nice and the Roya valley is part of the experience.
Day by day we will progress around Mt Bego 2872m , defined by the archaeologist as a sacred mountain.
The landscape varies between forest , lakes and chaotic rocky areas; it is common to encounter marmottes, Chamois Ibex .
The Mercantour national parc is a protected area since 1973
Your guide is experienced in the history of the place and gets approval to move freely within the restricted area.
September is an excellent time of year to visit that area, cooler, beautiful light, quieter than summer
